Exportation of specialty coffee from Brazil to the USA plummets after 50% tariff

Brazilian exports of specialty coffee to the United States recorded a historic drop in August. According to data from the Brazilian Coffee Exporters Council (Cecafé), the country shipped 21,679 bags in the month, a volume 79.5% lower than the same period in 2024 and 69.6% lower than in July of this year. The contraction is attributed to the tariff increase imposed by the U.S. government, which began charging 50% on Brazilian specialty coffees.
