Brazilian exports of specialty coffee to the United States plummeted in August, following the implementation of a 50% tariff imposed by the U.S. government of Donald Trump on the product being exported to the U.S. Last month, Brazil sent 21,679 60 kg bags of these differentiated coffees to Americans, representing a 79.5% drop compared to the same month in 2024 and a 69.6% decrease from July of this year, according to the Brazilian Specialty Coffee Association (BSCA), based on data from the Council of Brazilian Coffee Exporters (Cecafé). The U.S. led the monthly ranking this year as the main importer of Brazilian specialty coffees until August, so much so that it is still the largest destination for the product in the accumulated total of 2025.
