In 2020, Spain's exports of goods saw a substantial recovery, reaching 90% of the value from the previous year and slightly surpassing the exports of the same month in the year before. The country saw a trade deficit of 13,422.1 million euros, a significant decrease from the same period in 2019, with a coverage rate of 95.1%. Andalusia set a new export record for olive oil, reaching 11,255 million euros, while Catalonia's food sector exports surpassed 11,000 million euros for the first time. The region led Spain's agri-food exports in value, contributing 21.53% to the total, with France, China, Italy, Germany, and the UK being the main importers. There was a notable increase in exports to Saudi Arabia, Morocco, and Hong Kong, with China emerging as the second most popular destination.
