In the 2023/24 season, Turkey's dried fig exports experienced a 5 percent decrease in quantity, totaling 47,343 tons, but saw a 21 percent increase in value, reaching $216 million, thanks to a 27 percent rise in the average export price per ton. The USA emerged as the top market, accounting for 17.4 percent of the exports, valued at $37.4 million, followed by France and Germany with $25.2 million and $25.1 million, respectively. Significant growth was also observed in Canada, Japan, and Switzerland, among others. Despite a yield decrease, the increase in average export price is expected to elevate the export value beyond $300 million by the end of the season. These developments were discussed during the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters Association's 2023 financial meeting, where the association's 2023 activities were reviewed and plans for 2024 were set.
