Argentina has experienced a significant 11% increase in fresh vegetable exports in the first ten months of the year compared to the previous year, totaling 352,461 tons, as reported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Nation. This achievement reflects resilience in the face of pandemic challenges, with key exports including 189,187 tons of onions, 72,860 tons of fresh garlic, 51,633 tons of potatoes, and 22,091 tons of tomatoes. The main destinations for these exports were Brazil, Paraguay, and the European Union, with Brazil showing the highest demand for onions. This surge in Brazilian imports is largely attributed to its own production issues, such as drought and mildew, highlighting the important role Argentina plays in meeting regional demand for these staple vegetables.
