Georgia's hazelnut exports have seen a significant increase in the first month of 2021, with the export volume reaching $79.2 million, a 51.1% increase from the previous year. A total of 15.3 thousand tons of hazelnuts have been exported, marking a 48.5% increase from the previous year. The European Union accounts for 73% of the total export volume, with Germany and Italy being the top importers. Since the end of harvesting in August, exporters are buying stored hazelnuts from producers, and the total export volume of Georgian hazelnuts of the 2020 harvest is expected to be around 50 thousand tons.
