In 2021, Colombia's livestock exports surged to a record high of USD 427.4 million, marking a 50.6% increase from the previous year and a significant 201.7% rise from 2019. This growth was primarily driven by a substantial increase in meat and offal exports, which more than doubled compared to the previous year, and dairy exports, which reached their highest level since 2013. The country saw a notable recovery in its agricultural exports, with sales totaling USD 9,418 million and experiencing a 19.9% growth from the year before. The restoration of Colombia's foot-and-mouth disease-free status, achieved in February 2020, significantly boosted the livestock sector, allowing Colombia to expand its reach into key markets such as Russia, Chile, and Egypt. Consequently, beef exports hit an all-time high, with over 56,000 tons shipped in 2021, and live cattle exports also saw a slight rebound despite facing competition from Venezuela. Dairy product exports in December also experienced a notable increase, reaching their highest level since 2013, indicating a strong performance for Colombia's agricultural sector in the past year.
