Belgian peach grower, Ludo Rosseels, has suffered significant losses in his peach harvest due to repeated episodes of frost and heavy rain, the third year in a row. The early flowering period of peaches, up to a month before apples and pears, makes them particularly susceptible to such weather conditions. This year, the frost in February and the wet conditions in April and May have resulted in a yield that is only 10% of the expected. A total area of 3.5 hectares has been affected. Despite these challenges, Rosseels remains hopeful, attributing his resilience to the diversity of his crops and the superior taste of his peaches.
