(Sejong=Yonhap News) Reporter Yang Young-seok = The '23rd Sejong Jochiwon Peach Festival', themed around pink peaches, will be held for three days starting from the 25th in the Jochiwon area of Sejong City.
According to Sejong City on the 21st, visitors can purchase fresh peaches directly from farms at prices lower than market rates at the festival venue. Various experiences such as making peach-based desserts will also be available.
This year, on-site peach sales have increased by 5,000 boxes compared to last year, with 15,000 boxes (3kg product) prepared. They will be supplied at 10% lower prices than those sold at Sejong City's local food market Singsing Market and large supermarkets.
In line with the festival's promotional slogan "Drenched in Pink Peaches", participants wearing pink-colored clothing can double their enjoyment.
900 participants wearing pink will be selected daily on a first-come, first-served basis, and those who participate will receive peach purchase discount coupons, two peaches, and a sticker photo ticket.
The festival will continue into the night.
A nighttime program featuring cool beer and popular music performances to beat the heat will be held on the 25th and 26th.
The city has prepared heat wave countermeasures to ensure citizens can safely enjoy the festival.
Five air-conditioned buses will be stationed, and 5,000 paper hats and 4,000 fans will be distributed.
Rest areas and portable air conditioners will be installed throughout the venue, and 23,000 ice-cold water bottles will be prepared to prevent heat-related illnesses.
The city expects 90,000 visitors this year, anticipating an indirect economic ripple effect of 5.9 billion won.
Lee Seung-won, Deputy Mayor of Economy, said, "This year's event will be an exciting festival that energizes the entire Jochiwon area" and "We hope to see positive economic effects such as increased peach sales and commercial revenues during the festival period."
