The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) have partnered with the Sri Lanka Ministry of Agriculture in a $9.2 million activity to revitalize agriculture by enhancing paddy productivity, diversifying crops, and promoting sustainable farming practices. The four-year extension of support funded by USAID will benefit 10,000 farmers across four districts and help farmers diversify the use of paddy lands and use resources more efficiently. FAO and USAID emphasized their commitment to collaborating with the Government of Sri Lanka and other stakeholders to ensure the success of the initiative and contribute to the overall recovery of the agriculture sector.
