The FAO has increased its estimate of the global oilseed harvest for the 2023-24 crop year by four percent, expecting a record figure of 666.7 million tons. The increase is mainly due to a rise in the harvest of sunflower and soybeans, which will compensate for the reduction in rapeseed. Additionally, the forecast for the production of vegetable oils and fats has been increased, driven by high demand in both the food and fuel industries.
