In the third quarter of 2025, Vietnam's basa fish industry presented a trend of "declining production, firm prices, and differentiated exports." On the raw material side, influenced by adverse weather, increased fry mortality, and delayed pond releases, the supply remained tight, and pondhead prices maintained a high level for nearly three years. Meanwhile, demand in the European and American markets rebounded, while growth in the Chinese market slowed down, resulting in a noticeable differentiation in the global trade landscape. According to data from the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), by the end of September 2025, Vietnam's total basa fish export value had reached 1.79 billion USD, with a year-on-year growth of 9%.
