The Katsina State chapter of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) has urged the state government to assist farmers in controlling worms that are destroying crops. The worms have been damaging crop stems, making it difficult for them to survive, particularly in areas like Batarawa, Mani, Daura, and Funtua. The worms are destroying newly planted crops such as maize, guinea corn, and millet, and are being caused by over ten days of continuous rainfall. The association's chairman, Yau Umar-Gojo-Gojo, has advised farmers to apply recommended insecticides and has asked the government to provide chemicals to control the worms. He also suggested deploying extension workers to each ward to eliminate the insects.
