The Bangladesh Poultry Industries Association (BPIA) has urged the government to set fair prices for broiler chicken and eggs to stabilize the market. The pandemic has resulted in the closure of over 62,000 poultry farms, leading to a decrease in chicken and egg production by 25.71% and 25% respectively. Despite high demand, the high prices of chicken and eggs are due to a lack of supply. The BPIA also called for the revival of a pricing committee to set reasonable prices, and suggested that an expert committee should be formed by the government to determine production costs and set prices with a reasonable profit margin.
