According to preliminary data, in the first nine months of 2025, 5,868 tons of beef were obtained in slaughterhouses. The amount is nearly 16% more compared to the same period of 2024, due to an increase in both the number of slaughtered animals (+10.8%) and the average live weight at slaughter (+4.7%), according to an analysis of the beef market in Bulgaria by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food (MAF). Taking into account the data on the activity of slaughterhouses for the nine months of 2025, as well as the increased number of animals in certain categories by the end of 2024, it can be expected that the total beef production in the country in 2025 will be above the level of the previous year, the analysis indicates. Global meat consumption is expected to increase by 47.9 million tons by 2034.
