Vietnam's cashew exports in February 2022 saw a decrease of 37% in volume and 36.8% in value compared to January 2022, but an increase of 15.2% in volume and 18.2% in value compared to February 2021. The average export price of cashew nuts in February 2022 was $5,950/ton, up 0.3% from January and 2.5% from February 2021. The first two months of 2022 saw a total export volume of 65.46 thousand tons and a value of $389 million, marking a 2.6% decrease in volume and a 1.3% decrease in value compared to the same period in 2021. The export markets for cashews have seen changes, with increases in the United States, Germany, Australia, Italy, UK, and Saudi Arabia, but decreases in the Netherlands, China, Australia, Canada, and Russia. The Ministry of Industry and Trade is warning of potential fraud in cashew nut exports, specifically in 100 containers to Italy, and is advising exporters to verify partners carefully. The current geopolitical tension between Russia and Ukraine is not expected to significantly impact Vietnam's cashew exports, as the majority of exports are to the United States and the European Union.
