On May 1, 2024, the prices for feed and raw materials used in the agricultural industry experienced fluctuations. The cost of broiler feed ranged between 21,300 and 22,300 pounds, depending on the type, while cattle feed varied between 9,000 and 17,800 pounds. The price of imported yellow corn, a crucial ingredient in feed, was quoted at 11,800 pounds per ton, in contrast to corn from Ukraine, Serbia, and the US, which was priced at 10,800 pounds. The fluctuation in these prices is attributed to factors such as the global stock market, the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war, and increases in global fuel prices, which are driving major producers to convert corn into fuel. These price movements are impacting the production costs for farmers and are monitored closely by Dr. Abdel Aziz Al-Sayed, Head of the Poultry Wealth Division at the Cairo Chamber of Commerce.
