Mercedes Virué has been a canine trainer for 15 years and has always been interested in herding livestock using dogs. She recounts that she had the opportunity to travel to England and take classes with several renowned trainers. From that trip, she brought back a working-line dog to start training in Argentina. Virué set up a training center located in the El Cazador neighborhood, in Escobar, called “Campero-El Ombú.” From this position, a few years ago, she got in touch with SAPA, which is the Argentine Society of Herding Dogs, and thus she was able to start herding trials in Argentina, as this type of competition had not been held in the country for a long time. “Our neighboring countries, Uruguay and Brazil, have national trials and championships every year.
