Fig exports from Peru grow 15% in volume but fall 10% in value between January and September 2023

(Agraria.pe) Peru exported 536 tons of figs for US$ 2.2 million between January and September 2023, showing an increase of +15% in volume, but a reduction - 10% in its value compared to the previous year. This poor performance of exports was mainly due to lower purchases from the United Kingdom, its main destination in 2022, which led it to fall to position 3 of fresh fig destinations for 2023. This country reduced its demanded volume by -49% and its value at -60%, only being able to buy 103 tons for US$ 400,000. Regarding the other destinations of fresh figs, the Netherlands rose to top 1 because it purchased 187 tons worth US$900,000, increasing its volume by +100% and its value by +82%. For its part, the United States, second on the list, was not far behind and purchased 186 tons for US$500,000, presenting a very significant increase in volume of +254% and value of +45%.
