Finland is planning to increase its strategic grain reserves from the current 6 months to 8.5 months of normal population consumption. The country will achieve this by purchasing an additional amount of oats, wheat, and barley, which is roughly equivalent to 2.5 months of average food use. This move is aimed at strengthening the country's long-term readiness in the face of global disruptions. The European Commission has forecasted a nearly 20% decrease in EU cereal stocks from 2022 to 2023.
