Last Tuesday morning (December 16) the fire department was dispatched to a poultry farm fire in Wola Morawicka near Kielce (Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship). A total of 7 fire crews were deployed to the incident: 3 crews from the State Fire Service, 2 crews from the Volunteer Fire Department in Brudzów, and one each from the Volunteer Fire Department in Wola Morawicka and Chałupki. "The fire affected the social part of the chicken coop and the attic space above this part of the building. The livestock area was not affected by the fire, however, there was heavy smoke inside. The building contained over 19,000 young broilers. The farm workers evacuated before the firefighters arrived and were the first to start extinguishing the fire using extinguishers and water from a garden hose," reports Beata Gizowska, the press spokesperson for the Municipal Command of the State Fire Service in Kielce.
