The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, Mr. Phung Duc Tien, has called for the protection and sustainable development of the country's declining marine resources, a crucial source for fish sauce production. The proposal, made during a seminar in collaboration with the Vietnam Fish Sauce Association and the Vietnam Fisheries Association, emphasizes the need to explore other nutritious fish species for sauce production to mitigate the depletion of anchovies.
The plan includes investigating resources, regulating fishing, promoting electronic traceability, banning destructive fishing, and regularly stocking resources. It also underscores the importance of quality control, food safety, and traceability of fish sauce exports, particularly to comply with international standards. Stakeholders are encouraged to collaborate to ensure the sustainable supply of fish materials for fish sauce production in Vietnam, supporting the economic growth of the industry.
