Thailand's Department of Fisheries has launched a campaign to eliminate Blackchin tilapia from local waterways due to their threat to native marine life and fish farms. Despite a 2019 ban on Blackchin tilapia imports, it was discovered that a food industry conglomerate had been permitted to import the fish from Ghana in 2006.
