Fishing exports for direct human consumption in Spain totaled US$ 1,483 million in 2021, showing a growth of 17%

(Agraria.pe) The export of fish for Direct Human Consumption (CHD) in 2021 totaled US$ 1,483,925,000, a figure that indicates a growth of 17% compared to 2020 (US$ 1,268,632,000), reported the Services management and Extractive Industries of the Association of Exporters (ADEX). With a 41% share of the total and an increase of 1.4%, the most important hydrobiological product was squid (US$ 609,294,000), exported mainly in the frozen form (US$ 586,213,000) and less in residual flour, preserved and fresh. Shrimp from aquaculture (US$168,788,000) and scallops (US$122,140,000) followed, with positive variations of 26.8% and 62.1%, respectively. To promote shipments of these and other aquaculture species, it is necessary to implement a regulatory framework that promotes private investment, in order to provide this activity with new technologies in favor of greater competitiveness.
