A research project called the "Expansion of the cultivation of ginger in Flanders" aims to support the local cultivation of ginger in Flanders. The project, coordinated by the Provincial Test Center for Vegetable Growing East Flanders, aims to build a complete, local value chain around Flemish ginger. Researchers are investigating suitable plant material, cultivation techniques, and the potential for a new product called young ginger or primeur ginger, which can be introduced to the market with a longer availability period and improved product properties.
