The National Institute of Forestry, Agricultural and Livestock Research (INIFAP) in Mexico is developing new varieties of rice that are resistant to drought, floods, and pests. The institute is also working on the first varieties of short straw rice in Mexico, a first in the American continent. Other researchers at INIFAP are studying the productive potential of corn, methane emissions by dairy cattle, and reforestation studies to prevent dust collectors in the Valley of Mexico. This was highlighted by the researchers as part of the institute's 36th anniversary, celebrating its contributions to agriculture and making proposals for future work.
