Following the decision of the European Union, the active ingredient flufenacet, which has been used for decades primarily in cereal crops to combat the large windgrass, will be permanently phased out by the end of 2025. The decision is based on the fact that the substance has been identified as an endocrine disruptor, meaning it can demonstrably affect the functioning of the human hormonal system. The ban poses a serious challenge for farmers, as flufenacet has been a key element of weed control technologies. The withdrawal of flufenacet is stipulated in the EU Commission's Implementing Regulation 2025/910. According to the decision, from December 10, 2025, the authorization of all preparations containing this active ingredient will be withdrawn.
