Flushing, the agricultural technique that optimizes irrigation productivity

Drip irrigation is an essential tool for improving water use efficiency and addressing the challenges of climate change. However, its performance depends on proper maintenance of pipes and lines, with flushing or washing of the system being a key practice to eliminate sediment buildup and blockages that affect the uniformity of irrigation and reduce crop productivity. In Latin America, where millions of hectares depend on irrigation systems for fruit crops, vegetables, and agro-export products, optimizing irrigation efficiency is fundamental to sustain the competitiveness of the agricultural sector.
