From January to October 2021, Ukraine's fishing industry saw a significant increase in the catch of fish and aquatic bioresources, totaling 53,451 tons, with a notable 116.3% increase in catches from the Black Sea estuaries alone compared to the previous year. Other estuary systems, reservoirs, and the Black Sea also contributed to this increase. Industrial fisheries caught 22,629 tons, including 7,660 tons from the Black Sea, 2,956 tons from the Sea of Azov, and 778 tons from the lower reaches of the Dniester River. Additionally, Ukrainian-flagged vessels in the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) area caught 22,187 tons of krill, marking a 7% increase from the previous year. Preliminary data also shows a catch of 4,550 tons of aquaculture products and 4,085 tons from special commodity fisheries.
