Dairy production in Kazakhstan has seen a significant increase of 32.9% in the first four months of 2023 compared to the same period last year, with the North Kazakhstan region leading in production. There has been a notable rise in the production of ice cream, butter, and spreads, while milk in solid form and yogurt saw a decrease. Local companies met 85% of the domestic demand for dairy products, excluding fresh milk, but imports increased by 8.2%. The cost of dairy products has surged by 26.9% over the past year. The Ministry of Agriculture is planning to address the sector's self-sufficiency issues through new projects, as concerns grow about the potential negative impact of the developed dairy industries in Russia and Belarus.
