Vietnam is experiencing a surge in cherry imports, with prices dropping by 5-10% compared to last year due to increased supply from various countries like the US, Australia, New Zealand, and Chile. The price per kilogram ranges from 200,000 to 550,000 VND, depending on the source. The demand for affordable cherries is high, particularly due to reduced exports from China to that country because of stringent anti-Covid-19 measures. This has led to a doubling of cherry imports and a diverse source of supply. Additionally, cherry exports to China are being destroyed due to Covid-19 contamination in packaging, further increasing the supply and lowering prices.
