Baden-Württemberg's forests have been severely damaged by three years of drought and heat, with 46% of the area showing significant damage, according to the Forest Condition Report 2020. The damage affects all tree species, with the exception of oak, which has shown some improvement. The state is providing forest owners with aid totaling almost 30 million euros to manage the damaged wood and promote the growth of climate-stable forests. Additional funding has also been invested in research through the forest emergency plan.
