The Teagasc Economic Outlook for Irish Agriculture report reveals that France is a significant market for Irish sheepmeat, accounting for 33% of exports. In 2021, 54,500t of sheepmeat was exported, a 5% decrease from the previous year. Despite this, there has been a 15% increase in year-to-date sheepmeat exports to 2021 up to August. Other major markets include the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, and Belgium, with the rest of the world accounting for 8% of imports. Ireland's self-sufficiency in sheepmeat increased by 3% in 2021 to 361%.
