Gangneung City, along with Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province and the KIST Gangneung Natural Products Research Institute, held an on-site meeting to promote Gangwon Green Bio Industry on the 16th. This meeting was organized for the provincial agricultural policy director to personally visit the site, inspect Gangneung's regional research infrastructure, and listen to the site's concerns, as well as to establish a cooperative system between related organizations. The attendees discussed ways to develop agriculture's connection to industry, focusing on the standardization hub for natural material supply chains and other key aspects of the green bio industry. Through this, they shared various opinions that can be reflected in the mid- to long-term plans and execution strategies for the Gangwon Green Bio Industry Development Zone. In particular, they examined the potential for technological development and industrial expansion based on the research infrastructure and formed a consensus on the need to strengthen the connection between local agriculture and the bio industry. City Enterprise Support Division Director Kim Nam-guk said, "We will spare no effort in supporting Gangneung's Green Bio Industry growth by promoting the Gangwon Research and Development Special Zone development project centered around the KIST Gangneung Natural Products Research Institute, which leads the field in cutting-edge technology in the natural material sector."
