The Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Marine Resources Center is conducting a study to develop technologies for the hatching and release of octopus larvae and artificial seed production of young octopuses, in response to a decrease in octopus catch and concerns about resource depletion and ecosystem balance. The center plans to release around 100,000 hatched larvae into the coastal waters of three cities and counties this month, and is also researching various food sources for the larvae and analyzing growth rates and survival rates. The center is also planning to collaborate with other organizations to accelerate the development of hatched larvae release and production technology.
