Gangwon Province releases 210,000 high-grade fish seeds

Gangwon Province released 210,000 high-value fish seeds for free to restore marine resources along the East Sea coast. Gangwon Province announced that by September 26, it released 130,000 black croakers and 80,000 flatfish in the waters near the main fishing villages of six cities and counties along the East Sea coast, including Gangneung, Donghae, Samcheok, Sokcho, Goseong, and Yangyang. Specifically, 40,000 black croakers were released in Ayajin, Goseong, and Jangsa, Sokcho, 33,000 in Eodal, Donghae, and Jeonjin 2-ri, Yangyang, and 32,000 in Jangho 2-ri, Samcheok, and Anmok, Gangneung. Black croakers are smaller than yellow croakers and can be distinguished by having 5-8 black stripes on the dorsal and ventral fins and 3-4 on the caudal fin. They mainly inhabit the East Sea coast but sometimes move to brackish water areas where seawater and freshwater meet for spawning, hence the name black croaker.
