The news came from the north, but has deep roots in the south. This week, GDM —the company born in Chacabuco, Buenos Aires, in 1982 as Asociados Don Mario— announced the acquisition of 100% of AgReliant Genetics, one of the most important corn and soybean seed companies in the United States and Canada. The operation, still subject to regulatory approvals in that country, reaffirms a global strategy that the family group has been deploying for years. AgReliant was born in 2000 from the union between KWS (Germany) and Limagrain (France), and consolidated itself as the third corn seed provider in the US, with recognized brands such as AgriGold, LG Seeds and PRIDE Seeds (in Canada). In addition to corn, it also offers seeds for soybeans, sorghum, and alfalfa.
