In October 2021, Georgia saw a record monthly persimmon export, selling 5,800 tons for US $3 million, which is double the average of October 2014-2020. The majority of the exports were sent to Russia, Ukraine, and Armenia, making up 97% of the total. The price variation in these markets is due to the sale of persimmons of different sizes and qualities. Despite the weak domestic demand, Georgian producers are pleased with the high external demand and improved prices compared to 2020, and anticipate even higher exports in November.
