Germany's sown area for winter wheat for the 2023 season is estimated to have decreased by approximately 1.9%, totaling around 2.8 million hectares, as reported by the national statistics office. Conversely, winter rapeseed plantings have seen a notable increase of 7.6%, covering around 1.2 million hectares. This shift reflects the impact of higher prices resulting from the weak Canadian 2021 crop and the ongoing war in Ukraine, alongside robust yields of winter rapeseed in the 2022 season despite challenges like heat waves and drought. Additionally, winter barley plantings have grown by 5.1% to 1.3 million hectares.
