In July 2022, Germany experienced a 15% decrease in fresh fruit and vegetable imports compared to the same month in 2021, totaling 681,000 tons. This decline is part of a broader trend, with overall imports for the first seven months of the year down by 12% from 2021, valued at €38.5 billion but with a 10% increase in average import price. The country's top suppliers, including the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Costa Rica, and Ecuador, all saw decreases in their exports to Germany. Notably, imports of key products such as bananas, tomatoes, cucumbers, apples, and bell peppers experienced significant drops, while imports of grapes, melons, avocados, cauliflower, broccoli, and blueberries saw increases.
