In the first eight months of 2024, German slaughterhouses processed 29.5 million pigs, a 1.4% increase from the same period in 2023. While 3.2% of these pigs were imported, there was a 6.5% decrease in imports of slaughtered pigs compared to the previous year. The average slaughter weight increased slightly, contributing to a 2% rise in German pork production, reaching a total of 2.83 million tonnes.
