According to the German Union for the Promotion of Oilseed and Grain Cultivation (UFOP), winter rapeseed acreage in Germany has increased to between 1.10 and 1.15 million hectares, up to 60,000 hectares more than the 2025 target. Experts attribute the expansion to last year’s high yields and favorable weather conditions in late August and early September. In most regions, crops are developing in good or very good condition, but an increase in the number of pyrethroid-resistant rapeseed weevils has been observed. UFOP warns that pest control is becoming more difficult due to growing resistance and calls for accelerated registration of new plant protection products. Despite localized reseeding, the overall situation in the fields is assessed as stable. Experts expect that with sufficient rainfall and sunny weather, the rapeseed harvest in 2026 could be high.
