According to the Federal Centre for Agricultural Information (BZL), 260 German companies produced a total of 22.2 million tons of compound feed in the 2024/25 campaign. In the previous year, with four more companies, the volume reached 21.7 million tons. There was an increase in the production of feed for the three main target species (pigs, cattle, and poultry). Feed for pigs continues to be the most important product, with almost 8.4 million tons (previous year: 8.1 million tons). Feed for cattle remains in second place, with a production volume of 6.6 million tons, a slight increase of 1.5%. Feed for poultry increased to 6.5 million tons (previous year: 6.3 million tons). Of the total production volume, almost 19.8 million tons of reportable raw materials were processed. The use of grains in compound feed decreased slightly, from 48.8% to 48.2%.
