Gimhae City in Gyeongnam Province, South Korea, has exported its local specialty, Jinyeong persimmons, for the first time this year to the US territories of Guam and Saipan. The shipment, totaling 12.1 tons, was transported from the Bonsan-ri Distribution Center despite a significant decrease in production due to anthracnose outbreak last year. Despite the setback, the city anticipates a better harvest this year and plans to continue exporting persimmons through its major agricultural cooperatives until next year. Jinyeong persimmons are renowned for their sweetness, taste, and texture, and are valued for their health benefits.
