The USDA's Global Citrus Market and Trade Situation report forecasts a global citrus production drop of over 2 million tons in the 2024/25 season due to adverse weather conditions and diseases like Citrus Huanglongbing. This includes a predicted 10% decrease in U.S. orange production to the lowest level in 88 years. While Brazil's production is expected to rise, other northern hemisphere countries, including Egypt, Italy, and Turkey, will see decreases. In contrast, southern hemisphere countries like South Africa and Australia are expected to see increases. This will result in a decrease in consumption and exports, despite a slight increase in citrus/orange exports.
