REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman stated that the shift in global consumption trends presents a significant opportunity for Indonesia to strengthen the downstream processing of coconuts. The shift in global consumption patterns from dairy products to coconut derivatives makes these commodities a new growth source for the national agricultural sector. Amran explained, countries like China, India, and several European nations are now consuming a lot of coconut milk and Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) because they are considered healthier and more natural. This trend also serves as a momentum for Indonesia, as one of the world's largest coconut producers, to transition from exporting raw materials to high-value processed products.
