Ecuador remains the world's leading shrimp producer, with an expected growth of 3% in 2025, followed by Mexico, Brazil, and Venezuela. Despite low prices, Indian shrimp production is expected to recover and grow by 2% in 2024 and 2025. However, the growth of Asian shrimp supply is currently flat, with many countries considering switching to black tiger shrimp as whiteleg shrimp prices are low. Black tiger shrimp production in Asia is projected to reach nearly 700,000 tonnes by 2025, with Vietnam and China driving this increase. In contrast, the production of giant freshwater prawns in Asia is expected to decline, dropping by 5% in 2024 and potentially falling by an additional 1% in 2025, to below 300,000 tonnes.
