Peru's fish oil and meal production has significantly increased, contributing over 85% of its quota for the second fishing season in the north-central part of the country. Despite this, the global production of fish oil experienced a modest 3% rise from the previous year, with the United States and African countries compensating for the decrease in other regions. However, the peak domestic production season for marine ingredients is expected to result in lower production in 2024 compared to the previous year. Despite this, cumulative fishmeal imports have increased due to increased global supply, and the annual use of fishmeal in aquafeeds has recovered in 2024, with a slight increase in aquafeed production expected in the fourth quarter of 2024.
