In the first quarter, Norway experienced a 5% increase in shrimp export value and a 6% rise in sales compared to the same period last year, with Sweden, Denmark, and the UK being the primary markets. Despite this overall growth, there was a decrease in the export value of frozen peeled shrimp in packages over 2 kg, largely due to reduced demand from the UK and major catering companies in Sweden. However, exports of smaller packages to Swedish retailers saw a 7% increase. Denmark showed the most significant growth, with a 139% increase in export value and a 104% increase in volume for frozen cooked shelled shrimp, becoming the largest market for this product category. Nonetheless, March saw a decline in shrimp exports by 5% in value and 19% in sales year-over-year.
