A new Rabobank report reveals that global grape exports have dropped to their lowest level in four years, with last season's exports reaching 4.2 million tonnes, primarily due to weather conditions in Europe and the Americas. The share of exports from the Americas has decreased from 45% to 36% over the past ten seasons, and the US saw its imports exceed domestic production for the first time in 2023/24. However, there is optimism for a rebound in the next season, with most weather-impacted countries showing signs of recovery and China and India emerging as more significant players in the global trade, having transitioned from net importers to net exporters. The report also anticipates a rise in exports due to orchard renovations and the planting of new, proprietary varieties.
